Workers Paying for “Queer Pet Literature” Degrees

While trying to criticize another of President Joe Biden’s policies, Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz once again ridiculed a caricature of those on the political left who support the idea, with just a hint of homophobia added to appeal to its socially conservative base and grab the headlines.

In a now-viral clip that has made the rounds on Twitter, Cruz poked fun at the idea of providing relief to those who have chosen to pursue higher education. He argued that American workers, many of whom have never attended college, will have to bear the cost of bailing out those who failed to repay their own student loans.

Under the plan, the Biden administration is expected to forgive up to $20,000 in student debt for Pell Scholarship recipients, and up to $10,000 for others, who earn less than $125,000 a year. or $250,000 per year for married couples.

The administration says it will help low- and middle-income Americans who are struggling with student debt, which has been exacerbated by the rising cost of education, reports Newsweek.

Cruz initially criticized Biden’s plan on his Verdict with Ted Cruz podcast, stating, “If you’re that lazy barista who wasted seven years in college studying completely useless things, now has loans and can’t find a job, Joe Biden just gave you $20,000.”

He also hinted that the policy was an effort by Biden to boost Democrats’ chances in the upcoming midterm election by increasing youth turnout. He speculated that if people in debt could “get off the bong for a minute and head to the polls, or just send in your mail-in ballot that the Democrats sent you, it might increase turnout.”

In a later episode of his Verdict podcast, released last Sunday, Cruz sought to clarify his remarks.

“Are there people who wasted years studying totally useless things, who couldn’t find a job afterwards and who now work as baristas and are lazy? Yes,” Cruz told host Michael J. Knowles. “Is every barista a slacker? Of course not. They’re wonderful, great people, many of whom, by the way, don’t have student loans.

“They’re getting screwed over by the Democrats, because they’re saying the guy who studied queer pet literature and is $100,000 in debt, because oddly enough, to reference another podcast, you know , Mickey and Pluto go there, aside from getting a job at Disney, there’s not much of a job market for queer pet literature.

Mickey and Pluto’s comment refers to another Cruz rant on a separate episode of Verdictin which the senator claimed that by speaking out against Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill — a move the company said it was taken to support its LGBTQ employees — the Walt Disney Corporation would begin to show inappropriate content on shows and cartoons designated for children.

Cruz isn’t the only Republican who seems obsessed with LGBTQ issues when he ridicules the political left or tries to criticize the Biden administration.

Last month, U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) made a similar criticism of debt relief announced by Biden plans, making college debtors niche graduates, boutique majors who have no practical application in the world and deserve to be mocked for their adherence to “woke” ideology.

Appearing on Fox News’ HannityBoebert, who received his GED certificate in 2020 and never attended college, made the remarks while chastising Biden for saying supporters of the “Make America Great Again” agenda embraced by the former president Trump are a threat to the country.

“How on earth could Joe Biden brand America First conservatives a threat to democracy with a straight face and a dry diaper?” said Boebert. “It was he who allowed millions to invade our southern border. He is the one who robs American workers to pay for Karen’s daughter’s diploma in lesbian dance theory.
